March Meeting Minutes by Joan

Eleven ladies showed up at Joan's with all the fixin's for forty two baskets filled with goodies galor.  They were gaily wrapped in holiday cello and will be taken to a shelter that supports the downtown community.
It was good to see Laura Teran. She is still very active with her son who is a member of the Mitty volleyball team. They have meets most Saturdays so Laura says coffee is out until after the season.
We distributed the materials to begin collecting money for the Relay for Life. If you want to
contribute $$, buy a luminari for someone who has died of cancer of who is a survivor of cancer, or best of all join us in the walkathon event, please contact Robin Nevoli. You do not have to commit to 24 hours. We will be fine tuning our plans at next month's meeting to be held at Cathy Hennig's.  We need to get the contributions turned in at that meeting.

Kid's Korner
Scott Simmons auditioned and was accepted in the theater school at Julliard in NYC.  He will be here doing some Shakespeare for a few months, and there in the Fall.  Maybe he will be famous one day, and we can say we knew him when.......

Congratulations
Mary and Ed Ryan will be celebrating 25 years of wedded bliss on the 24th.

Napa Weekend Getaway
Our weekend away is scheduled for April 27th and 28th at the Embassy Suites in Napa.  We have two suites reserved and each suite can accommodate at least 5 people.  The cost per night is $244 per suite.  There may be an additional charge for extra people. e-MAIL DELIVERY

Laughter for the Soul
My mother taught me to read when I was three years old (her first mistake). One day, I was in the bathroom and noticed one of the cabinet doors was ajar. I read the box in the cabinet. I then asked my mother why she was keeping "napkins" in the bathroom. Didn't they belong in the kitchen??? Not wanting to burden me with unnecessary facts, she told me that those were for "special  occasions".
Now fast forward a few months..... It's Thanksgiving Day, and my folks are leaving to pick up the pastor and his wife for dinner. Mom had assignments for all of us while they were gone. Mine was to set the table. When they returned, the pastor came in first and immediately burst into laughter. Next came his wife who gasped, then began giggling. Next came my father, who roared with laughter. Then came mom, who almost died of embarrassment when she saw each place setting on the table with a "special occasion" napkin at each plate, with the fork carefully arranged on top. I had even tucked the little tail in so they didn't hang off the edge!!??!!. My mother asked me why I used these and, of course, my response sent the other adults into further fits of laughter.
"But, Mom, you SAID they were for special occasions!"
