Zoom & SIP (Shelter in Place) Survival Guide.....Ginny
 

Zoom is an application that can be installed on a computer (PC or Mac) as well as on an iPad or iPhone for holding a meeting online between a group of people.  Zoom is being used by our local schools, as well as schools across this country, so that teachers may have a virtual classroom for their students.  But, even seniors like us are using it to keep in touch with family and friends.

We held our first Zoom meeting last Saturday, and while we had a few "hiccups", 15 people were able to join the meeting, even if some were "kicked off" and weren't able to rejoin a meeting. 

Here's a few things I learned from our first session:

1. If I answer video chats that people try to initiate with me in Zoom because they are unable to join the meeting or are "kicked off", it kicks me off the meeting and I can't rejoin it.  (or....I haven't yet figured out how to return to my own meeting!)  So, for future meetings, if you need to contact me, send a text to my cell phone number. (Not in Zoom)

2. For the next meeting, Zoom will send you an email which will allow you to click on a link at the scheduled time to join the meeting.  But, I will also sent you an email with the meeting ID which you can use to get into the meeting if the Zoom link doesn't work for you.  Remember, don't click on the link in the Zoom email until the scheduled time for the meeting.
