Family Summer BBQ  BASH (aka Game Day & Gathering)
Las Madres Family Summer BBQ will be held at Evergreen Park at on August 12th at 4pm.  (Between the college and the community center on San Felipe Road)  This will be a potluck affair.  Bring your own everything and a dish to share.  There are BBQs and bathrooms available but tables may be limited so bring lawn chairs.  Wilsons will provide a camp table for food.  We will have bocce ball, croquet, and horseshoe games as well as the usual hang out and visit.  If you have some of the above games please bring them along.  Wear your Las Madres shirts.  This will be just in time to wish the kids that start school in August farewell and for those still in town ..... it is dinner.  Hope you can make it.

Capitola Beach Breakfast

When:  Sunday, September 2nd, 9:30am
RSVP:   Kathy by August 30 to sign up for food

This year we will do something different for the Beach Breakfast. We will meet at the beach at Capitola for the Sandcastle Building Contest.  Breakfast will be a "potluck continental breakfast" with muffins, rolls, fruit, juice & coffee. Call Kathy to sign up for food and so we'll have an idea how many to expect. There are no tables & chairs so bring your blankets & lawn chairs. We'll meet down by Lifeguard tower #3. This is a well attended affair so parking at the beach is usually full. You may want to drop off part of your party & then park or plan on being able to carry all your stuff. We usually park at the lot behind the police station... be sure you have plenty of quarters for the parking meters!!

Kid's Korner
Claire Brooks-Schulke's Evergreen Little League team, Farm division Diamondbacks, came in third place for the year, but won playoffs. This remarkable team was the only Little League team with three girls on it, and they were ably coached by their manager, Jim!  They clinched the division title in freezing rain on June 19.
Megan Grady received the Spirit Award for the Creekside Cudas this  year.  (Carol also e-mailed:  "I'm a little (OK, very) late...but Megan also received the PAC Award last year when she graduated from Quimby.)
Editor's Note:  Carol Grady received the Brother Fein Award (Volunteer of the Year) from Mitty last year.

Our Condolences
Our thoughts and prayers are with......
.....the Brooks-Schulke family on the recent loss of Jim's dad
.....the Wilson family on the recent loss of Joan's father

Message from the Brooks-Schulkes
Jim and Sally sincerely appreciate all the thoughtful cards, e-mails, and donations to the Alzheimer's Association, in memory of Jim's Dad.  Your sympathy and kindness are comforting.

SUBJECT: Mouse Ball Replacement
Mouse balls are now available as FRU (Field Replacement Unit) items. Therefore, if a
mouse fails to operate or should it perform erratically, it may need a ball replacement.
Because of the delicate nature of this procedure, replacement of mouse balls should only
be attempted by properly trained personnel.

Before proceeding, determine the type of mouse balls by examining the underside of the
mouse. Domestic balls will be larger and harder than foreign mouse balls.

Ball removal procedures differ depending upon manufacturer of the mouse. Foreign balls
can be replaced using the pop-off method. Domestic balls are replaced using the
twist-off method. Mouse balls are not static sensitive, however, excessive handling can
     result in sudden discharge.

Upon completion of ball replacement, the mouse may be used immediately. It is
recommended that each replacer have a pair of spare balls for maintaining optimum
customer satisfaction, and that any customer missing his balls should suspect local
personnel of removing these necessary items.

To re-order, specify one of the following:
      P/N 33F8462 - Domestic Mouse Balls
      P/N 33F8461 - Foreign Mouse Balls

This is being passed around as "a true Memo from IBM concerning mouse balls".
