JANUARY MEETING
When: Thursday, January
19, 7:15 pm
Where: Sally's House - 3279 Padilla Way
What: Planning & Potatoes
Las Madres January Meeting
will be held at Sally's. Come join us for a baked potato dinner
and a white elephant exchange. Please contact Sally and let her
know what potato topping or side you are bringing (a salad??)
This is our annual planning meeting: so be there before we assign
you a month, and don't forget to bring that gift you don't want
to store for a year and you can't imagine how Goodwill would ever
sell it. See you there!
2006 Dues
A new year has arrived and it's time to send in your annual dues.
We don't want anyone to miss the fun (or club e-mails). So, whether
you live nearby.....or faraway...........make sure to send your
$12 yearly dues to Vicki
BEFORE the month ends.
Get Well Wishes
Wishing Lou continuing get well wishes from his recent gall bladder
surgery!
Los Padres Golf
Lou has reservations for the golf trip to Forest Meadows for June 2-4 week-end. Let him know if you want to go.
Saturday Coffee Clatches
Continue Meet your Las
Madres friends for some coffee and conversation at the Starbuck's
at White and Aborn on Saturday mornings at 9am. Every third Saturday
is a field trip. This month we will try something different for
our away coffee. Craf'it is a unique paper craft store that features
scrapbooking, rubber stamping, stencils, quilling, unique gifts
etc. They have an in store "dessert cafe." The gentleman
Kathy spoke to said that they have seating for 10-15 so we should
be fine. He said if their class area is not being used that day
we could even use those tables. So plan to join us and check out
this new place at 1139 Tasman Dr in Sunnyvale (cross-street: Lawrence
Exp.) Kathy has not been there so she's making no guarantees :-)

HOW TO STAY YOUNG
1. Throw out nonessential
numbers. This includes age, weight and height.
Let the doctors worry about them. That is why you pay them.
2. Keep only cheerful friends.
The grouches pull you down. (keep this In mind if you are
one of those grouches;)
3. Keep learning:
Learn more about the computer, crafts, gardening,
whatever. Never let the brain get idle.
"An idle mind is the devil's workshop."
And the devil's name is Alzheimer's!
4. Enjoy the simple things.
5. Laugh often,
long and loud. Laugh until you gasp for breath.
And if you have a friend who makes you laugh, spend lots and
Lots of time with HIM/HER.
6. The tears happen:
Endure, grieve, and move on. The only person who is with us our
entire life, is ourself.
LIVE while you
are alive.
7. Surround yourself with what you love:
Whether it's family, pets, keepsakes, music, plants, hobbies,
whatever.
Your home is your refuge.
8. Cherish your
health:
If it is good, preserve it.
If it is unstable, improve it.
If it is beyond what you can improve, get help.
9. Don't take guilt trips.
Take a trip to the mall, even to the next county, to a foreign
country,
but NOT to where the guilt is.
10. Tell the people you love that you love them, at every opportunity.
