IF MY BODY WERE A CAR - from Kathy
If my body were a car, this is the time I would be thinking about trading it in for a newer model. I've got bumps and dents and scratches in my finish and my paint job is getting a little dull, but that's not the worst of it. My headlights are out of focus and it's especially hard to see things up close. My traction is not as graceful as it once was. I slip and slide and skid and bump into things even in the best of weather. My whitewalls are stained with varicose veins. It takes me hours to reach my maximum speed. My fuel rate burns inefficiently. But here's the worst of it --
Almost every time I sneeze, cough or sputter.......either my radiator leaks or my exhaust backfires!
Here's Kathy's brother's reply to the above--
"HAHAHA. Interesting that you sent this, I have been thinking a lot lately about my body as a car. Or, more specifically, my brain. I used to feel like I drove a Ferrari... except it was a very rugged and forgiving Ferrari. I could forget to change the oil, or put strange fuel additives in the tank, and it would run poorly for a while, but a good tune-up would put everything back into shape and allow me to lap the competition once again. Then one day I woke up and realized that I no longer had a rugged Ferrari in the driveway... someone had traded it for a Ford Taurus! The Taurus is a good serviceable car, mind you... and if you take care of it, it will get you where you want to go. Nevertheless, I miss the exhilaration of my Ferrari. :( "
And Kathy's sister's reply to that!!
"Forget the Farrari and it's exhiliration. Forget the Taurus, and how serviceable it can be.... I've got a vintage Gremlin! It's falling apart, and you can't get parts anymore. It had a brief time where it was popular with some crowds, but it's long since gone the ways of the other oddities in life.... you just don't see them on the road anymore. "
