Dee'sCoffee is at Dee's
house this Saturday, November 2nd, starting about 9. Try to send Dee an
e-mail by Friday if you're coming so she'll know how many cups of coffee to

Country", formerly known as John's room.Westfield
Valley Fair Shopping TripRandy
still has a few tickets left for the
November 10th shopping night. They are still just $5 and we are meeting
for dinner at California Pizza Kitchen at 5:30 pm and then shopping
afterwards. Contact Randi by November 2nd.October Meeting RecapThe October meeting was full of fun, games
and prizes after a brief meeting. The project was a ghost, so easy even Ginny
made one. Ask her about "Disco Ghost" next time you see her. We then played
games; toss the eyeballs, Jack-O-Lantern, and a dice game renamed Witch. All
had fun and many went home with appropriately themed prizes. Robin is a great
eyeball thrower and Shirley is second best.
At the meeting Sally generously volunteered to host the Christmas gift
exchange party this year. The date was set for WEDNESDAY., DECEMBER 11. Time
and food disbursement to be decided later. Since last years exchange was so
well received it was decided the gift would be a personal item, Xmas related
not necessary. The prices was set at between $15 and $20.
Craft meeting has been moved up a week due to Thanksgiving. It will be held at
Kathy Roesslers at 7:15 on the 20th. If, at this meeting, there is a craft you
would like to do for the holidays, either for decoration or as a gift, please
let Vicki know as soon as possible.Cooking ClassesDee says that
"cooking classes on Monday nights are great." Let her know if you'd like
to join her on a Monday night from 7:00-9:00. They are free and taught
in a home off Blossom Hill by a professional chef who goes to her church.
Steinbeck Salinas Trip
Shirley, Patrice, Joan and Randi had a delightful, educational day at the
National John Steinbeck Museum in Salinas. The museum was comprised of many
well-done exhibits about Steinbeck's life and had many settings and hands-on
exhibits about many of his famous books such as "Grapes of Wrath," "The Red
Pony," "The Pearl," etc. We then went for a wonderful lunch about a block away
that had gargantuan portions. If you have a chance to visit to celebrate
Steinbeck's 100th birthday, do so! (by Randi)Alaska Update
We now have 26 cabins booked for our July 12th, 2003, Alaska cruise/train
trip. There is still room but I would book soon if you want to go. Call Randi
for info. Also, we are tentatively having our first pre-cruise party on
Saturday, November 23rd at Randi's house. Details to follow.
Saturday Coffee Clatches ContinueMeet your Las
Madres friends for some coffee and conversation at the Starbuck's at White and
Aborn on Saturday mornings at 9am. Every third Saturday is a "field
trip".
Toffee is at my house next Sat., Nov. 2
starting about 9. Try to send me an e-mail by Friday if you're coming so I know
how many cups of coffee to make - since I don't drink the stuff :) You'll get
to see the new "Bear Country", formerly known as John's room.
e-MAIL TIDBITSenility Prayer
God grant me the senility to forget the people I never liked anyway, the good
fortune to run into the ones I do, and the eyesight to tell the difference.
Now that I'm 'older' (but refuse to grow up), here's what I've discovered:
1. I started out with nothing, and I still have most of it.
2. My wild oats have turned into prunes and All Bran.
3. I finally got my head together; now my body is falling apart.
4. Funny, I don't remember being absent minded...
4. Funny, I don't remember being absent minded...
5. If all is not lost, where is it?
6. It is easier to get older than it is to get wiser.
7. The only time the world beats a path to your door is when you're in the
bathroom.
8. If God wanted me to touch my toes, he would have put them on my knees.
9. It's not hard to meet expenses.......they're everywhere.
10. These days, I spend a lot of time thinking about the hereafter......I go somewhere
to get something and then wonder what I'm here after.
