November Meeting
When: Thursday, November 20, 7:15 pm
Where: Sue Ballard's Home
What: Christmas in the Park Tree Decoration Preparations
Sue says,
"Everyone is welcome to start working on them now if they have ideas,
or
if you want to put them together at my house, we can do that. We talked
earlier about possibly laminating the pictures so they would be
waterproof. I have already picked up some spray that we can use on the
ornaments to protect them from the elements. I also have picked up some
sheets to use to laminate the pictures if we can't get the use of a
laminating machine. I have also picked up some supplies to use to
decorate, like colored foam to use for the ornaments, colored markers.
If there is any other supplies you would like to have use for the
ornaments, let me (Sue) know before the
weekend of November 14th.
Christmas in the Park Update -
Sue Ballard
Since our application to decorate a tree in Christmas in the Park for
this year has been accepted, we will need to create about 60 ornaments
to use on the tree. They will provide us with two strings of lights and
that is all you can put on. They will supply us with a sign, and there
is no indication that we can add a tree skirt. I have sent an e-mail to
clarify that and haven't received any response.
We are scheduled to decorate the tree on Friday,
November 28th, at 9AM. Anyone who wants to help, let me know. The
parking is very limited and we will have to pull up and drop our
supplies off and go find a parking space.
I am planning on printing out a number of pictures
that will range in time from when the kids were small to the 25th
anniversary party. An idea I had for a theme would be something to do
with our outings with the kids; the parties at the parks, the kids play
days doing crafts such as making the plaster of paris hands, the
camping trips, the field trips like Disney on Ice, the car rally and
casino night, etc. Anything to show the different things we did with
the kids. Please feel free to come up with your own ideas. The
ornaments have to be weatherproof.
I would like to see if we can get a few ornaments
from our Las Madres friends who are not in the area anymore that would
reflect some of the fun times we had. If you would like to make an
ornament for the tree, you can send me an e-mail to let me know you
will be sending one and then you can send the completed ornament to my
house.
Ladies Fall Trip -
Vicki
Since our group had dwindled to 6, Emily's House in Paso Robles was too
large for our group. If we set a date in January for a spring trip,
maybe we would have more attendees that would make it more feasible
monetarily.
Now for the new fall trip, I found a 3 bedroom
B&B in Colfax, Rose
Mountain Manor, that just had a cancellation. It is 12 miles past
Auburn off Hwy 80. We will have the house to ourselves on Friday and
Saturday; a full breakfast and 4 o'clock tea is included. The rooms
only have 1 Q in each.
Pricing:
Thurs $99 reg rm (2), $129 master suite
F/Sa 129 reg rm, 159 master
Rollaways 35/nite
If we have more than 6 the rollaways would go in the master suite.
So the cost for this house is $420 vs the 600 we were committing to in
PR.
1 car will be going on Thursday afternoon and 1 car will be going
Friday morning.
Contact Vicki for further info.
Napa B&B Tour & Taste Event When: Saturday, December 6, 2008
Time: 2 PM to 7 PM
Cost: $55 per person for ticket (went up $10.00 this year)
The Napa Holiday Tour is the first Saturday of December. Last
year several of us either spent Friday and Saturday or Saturday and
Sunday nights at the Napa Inn which is one of the B & B's on the
tour.
If you stay 2 nights at the Napa Inn, one ticket for the tour is
included.
I think there was approx. 12 B&B's that you go to (some are walking
distance from each other on the tour) and they also provide a shuttle
to get you to each one.
There is plenty of food and wine at each stop, and the holiday
decorations and entertainment is well worth the trip. Anyway,
there is so much food; we didn't even have dinner that night, although
some did go to various restaurants within walking distance. It
runs from 2-7 p.m. that day only (12/6.) We have already
booked. This time we are finally staying in the main house.
Some friends are planning on staying at the Embassy Suites which is
walking distance from the Napa Inn. If you are interested in the Napa
Inn you can call them directly at 1-800-435-1144 (you can also go to
their website to check out rooms and availability.)
The web site to just order tickets for the tour if you are not planning
to stay in Napa or if you are staying only one night at the Napa Inn or
whatever is: http://napaholidaytour.com/

Tidbit How
to tell if you've been married too long.....
Three women: one engaged,
one married, and one a mistress, are
chatting about their relationships
and decided to amaze their men by
surprising them wearing black leather bras, stiletto heels and a mask.
After a few days they meet
up for lunch and compare notes...
The engaged woman:
The other night when my boyfriend
came over he
found me with a black leather bodice,
stilettos and a mask.
He saw me and said,
"You are the woman of my life.
I love you." Then we made love
all night long.
The mistress: Me too!
The other night I met my lover at his office
and I was wearing
the leather bodice,
heels, mask over my eyes and a
raincoat. When I opened the raincoat
he didn't say a word, but we had
wild sex all night.
The married woman:
When my husband came home
I was wearing the
leather bodice, black stockings,
stilettos and a mask over my eyes.
As soon
as he came in the door
and saw me he said,
"What's for dinner, Batman?"
(Anyone willing to try it with Thanksgiving leftovers?)
