Nine intrepid travelers descended on Cathy and her beautiful house in Washington D. C.....as well as the little "White House" next door.  They were treated royally and enjoyed making new memories together.

Here's some favorite memories or comments about the trip:

Cathy - I am glad that 9 of you were able to make it to DC.  I had a good time with everyone here and hope the same was had.  Only two things could have made it better, a bigger house so we could all be under one roof and a bit cooler temps.  We had been unseasonably warm actually broke several records for heat and rain fall this summer.  Any are invited back at any time to see more.  I feel like we packed in quite a bit but there is still so much to see and do. I hope everyone got at least one thing they wanted to do or see done. After everyone but Joan and Merrilee left the 3 of us drove to Harper's Ferry and wondered around the town. It is situated where the Potomac and Shenandoah river meet and Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia meet. You can walk across the river next to the train bridge and it is part of the Appalachian Trail so they got a few things to knock off their list. Thank you again for making the trip.

Mary Kay - I want to thank Cathy for such a wonderful time. There is so much History in DC. It was my first time there. Next time I will bring Ed and spend more time. Cathy did a lot of work on her home and it is beautiful!
As alway's it is always a great time spending time with my California friends. They are the best! Until the next trip....stay healthy and be safe!

Tina - A BIG THANKS to you, Cathy H.,  for the invitation to your lovely home in Washington DC, “next door” house accommodations/arrangement, meals, various site excursions and suggestions within your city.  It was my first trip “back east” since I was in Florida 34 years ago so this was all new to me!  With so many sites, museums and history to take in I bet we barely scratched the surface. (We did actually cover a lot of ground while there). The trip has given me much in-site into what to visit, vacation and take in when traveling to that part of the country again.  Many thanks,

Marti - Thank You to Cathy for a wonderful time in her beautiful home!  We visited many national monuments, museums and parks.  Enjoyed card games, along with delicious food and drink.    Trader Joe’s licorice anyone?
Plus.....time with our LM family is always priceless....in so many ways.

Shirley - The trip to DC was great...I have been there quite a few times and each was different. The highlights this time were:
      Seeing the people who don’t live in San Jose anymore. Let’s keep this up!  We have so much history that other friends just didn’t experience. 
       Seeing Cathy’s good food, beautiful home, family and City.   And she arranged for no rain for us. 
        Some new things:  into the card catalog at the Library of Congress, being on the steps of the Supreme Court during an historical event, night tour of the city and monuments,  the Botanical Gardens , the Newseum, Mt. Vernon and Alexandria, lots of good food and of course the introduction to Trader Joe’s black licorice. 
 Thanks to Cathy and everyone who went for making it memorable.

Merrilee - Our trip to Washington was filled with good food, fun adventures, and fabulous company. Thanks to Cathy for being such a marvelous hostess and for graciously allowing Joan and I to stay a few extra days. I, especially, enjoyed our day trip to Harper's Ferry.

Ginny - Monuments by Moonlight Night Tour

Joan - Better late than never. The joys of country life means that an incoming threat of heavy winds and rain make internet and TV sketchy. The lesson is don’t wait to answer Ginny’s request just because you just got home after a month away and you want to spend time with your man. We are back online and connected so I look forward to a several binge programs- This is Us, Poldark, Survivor etc but first here is my DC round-up.

Merrilee, Walt and I spent four days in Grundy and Richmond County, just NW of Kansas City. We were on a genealogy search for details of Merrilee’s ancestry. Lots of giggles and some actual documents were found. Merrilee picked up a rock from where we “assumed” the family farm used to be. Here’s a photo of the Methodist Episcopal Church they attended.

Now on to DC. Our plane took us to St. Louis and we rendezvoused with most of the other gals heading to DC. The 3 hour flight gave me time to catch up with Marti’s life….amazing to learn so much. We all got into a large van, conquering the normal “who gets car-sick, who has to have a window, who can’t sit in the way back” Thank goodness there was no “she’s touching me” moments.

Arriving at Cathy’s I immediately knew her Capital Hill home was going to be amazing. I was one of four that slept in the “White House” next door. What a challenge watching four of us lug 50lb suitcases up a 2ft wide staircase with turns. Beds were waiting with a wonderful goody bag of treats. I especially loved the “real White House” Christmas ornament. They are collector items I had just learned about from a presentation at my local women’s club….and now I owned one. Thank you Cathy. The Metro card and water were also well used. Once arrived at Cathy’s humble abode, we were greeted by the two most energetic women in the group- Mary with her loud loving hugs and Ruth with a cocktail. It felt so right!!! Cathy one-upped Ruth with a wonderful Sangria that melded for the entire time and boy was the fruit ripe towards the end. I only slept next door but each morning I could look out the kitchen window directly into Cathy’s kitchen, wave at Cathy and head over for breakfast.
I too have been to DC several times but loved Cathy’s eclectic neighborhood and its people. She truly has everything within her feets reach….lots of walking. It’s good for us right??
My favorite new thing was the Newseum (next to the Canadian Embassy). Randi had told me to do it and it is definitely a “must do”. Loved the food and the ice cream we always manage to find. Lots of laughs, it was great to see Sara and her charming home and family.
After the majority had figured out how to retrace their way back to Logan, Merrilee and I moved into the now quiet house next door. We got our own rooms and the conversations were much quieter in tone. Loved the trip to Harper’s Ferry and got to cross WV off the list of "been to" states.
Now that we have been to the homes of those LM friends that have moved out of the area, I think we could find an Air B+B in another state and check it out. How about Philadelphia or Portland, Gulf Shores AL or FL  or a city on the Great Lakes?
I have been home less than a week but the urge to “go and do” is in my blood. Walt and I do not have any travel plans for 2019 but give me time. We will be in Tulsa for Thanksgiving with both boys, grands and maybe great grands plus the slew of Wilsons who live there….probably in the 50+. Wishing you a wonderful Thanksgiving. Annie.....Randi

David and I are once again performing with our community theatre group, the "Glue Factory" in "Annie" on November 28, 29, 30 and December 1st at Pioneer High School Performing Arts Center at 1290 Blossom Hill Road at 7 pm.   We both have a number of lines and singing solo parts. (We play a variety of characters).  Since there are "kids" from Pioneer HS Advanced Drama classes, there are already a lot of tickets sold since parents like to see their child perform. I would suggest purchasing tickets as soon as possible (I just purchased some for the Saturday night performance and the closest available was Row "G!").  Tickets are $7 for students, $10 for seniors (62+), and $15 for adults plus a $.99 service fee ticket.
