Christmas Party Food

Christmas is full of memories for all of us of wonderful times with family and friends.  So, it’s time for a trip down memory lane.

At Happy Hour had a discussion about the food for the Christmas Party.
We figured since the theme was black/white…like an old television set…we should have retro food.
We also decided that we’d just have appetizers and desserts this year.
Think of food from your past, something you enjoyed growing up, as a newlywed, or when you attended a Las Madres party.
Was it made using Bisquick or by opening a can of peaches or pie filling?
Did you use jello or a cake mix?

We talked more about this at coffee and decided to add salads to the menu…think Waldorf Salad, Ambrosia, or ?

Maybe it’s time to get out your old Pot of Gold Cookbook to find that retro recipe
…or look in your Betty Crocker or Better Homes & Gardens cookbooks
…or in your old recipe file.

Will Marti make her Hot Artichoke Dip or Frozen Chocolate Mint Delight?

Will someone follow Shirley’s recipe for Yummy Chocolate-Angel Food Dessert?

Will Sue Butler make her famous Lemon Bars?

Will Betty make her Layered Lettuce Salad or Boter Koek?

Will Kathy make her Blueberry Jello?

Will Dee bring Pauline’s Strudel?

Will Ruth make her Hot Bean Dip?

Ginny is leaving the Lipton Soup Onion Dip & Potato Chips for someone traveling from afar.
We talked about Magic Cookie Bars and those mini cheesecakes made with a vanilla wafer on the bottom and cherry pie filling on top.

Maybe you can find that old recipe by going to the Recipe link on our website at:  http://www.lasmadres80.net/LMRecipesIndex.html

So, search your memory for that retro recipe.
When you find it, send Ginny the info on what you’ll be bringing so she can add it to the following list:

Shirley - Spinach Dip in Bread Bowl

Vicki - Danish Puff

Robin - Taco Dip

Merrilee - Pigs in a Blanket

Ginny - French Chocolate Pie
Ruth - Ambrosia Salad
Sally - Onion Dip and Chips

Janis - Mango Salsa and Chips
Kathy - Ultimate Chewy Ginger Snaps

Marti - Hot Artichoke Dip
Betty - 7 Layer Salad

Congratulations

Our congratulations to Robin and Gary Nevoli who will be celebrating 50 years of wedded bliss on the 17th.

Spring Ladies Trip...Ruth

I have 16 confirmed guests for May 7-10, including me, and a maybe for Sue Ballard.  If you don't see your name below, please let me know.

Downstairs Master            Shirley and Cathy
Downstairs Queen             Kathy R and MK Ryan
Downstairs Trundles         Ginny and Vicki
Downstairs Couch             Sally
Downstairs Airbed           Janis

Upstairs Master               Robin and Sharon
Upstairs Queen                Joan and Merrilee

Lori and Buz'                    Ruth and Marti

TBD                                  Sue Butler
TBD                                  Terri Krevanko

Marti and I will zip to Buz and Lori's each night to sleep (they're very close).  Not to worry, at least I'll be back bright and early to start coffee and breakfast!

If Sue Ballard and Sue Butler can come, they might also be able to stay at Buz and Lori's or otherwise the upstairs couch or more airbeds.  The upstairs couch is very public.  There'd be no privacy.  If Tina, Terri or anyone else can come, I'm sure we can find room.  I can always pitch a tent in the backyard too :).

Think of things you'd like to do between now and then and I'll try to find some fun things to do as well.  It'll be a hoot!
