Ladies Trip to Chico Recapthanks for visiting
Thank You to Dee for treating us to two wonderful dinners.....lasagna on Friday night and BBQ Tri Tip on Saturday night. (Thanks, Greg, for taking care of the fires.....BBQ & Tiki torches!)  It was a wonderful weekend visiting Chico and "hanging out" every evening at the Castagnoli's beautiful new home & backyard.  If you haven't already seen the pictures, go to:  http://www.geocities.com/ggomez@pacbell.net/chicoXX.html (for the "country" music version.....take off an X or two for other versions.)

Roaring Camp Train Ride
O.K... it looks like we're back to August 16.  Keith wants to go when the weather is warm & the moon is out :-)  So let me know if you're interested in August 16 & I'll call to see how to make some reservations........Kathy

Del Valle - Mother’s Day
At the planning meeting we discussed camping at Del Valle in the Livermore Valley over Mother’s Day weekend May 9-11th.  Reservations for camping can be made at ReserveAmerica.com. This is open to any and all- Las Madres and friends of LM. Wilson’s are in site 38.
For you non-camper folks, we thought maybe you would like to spend the day Saturday with us campers and have a big potluck BBQ Saturday around 5pm. The guys can cook….Shirley has got Lou cooking pancakes HA HA but we may get him to do pancake breakfast on Sunday if that is his speciality.
Let Joan know if you are camping and if you are interested in the BBQ. If we don’t get many BBQers it is subject to cancellation.
This is a good place for bikes….lots of flat paths and lots of BIG hills for the more adventuresome. Bocce Ball on the lawn is also fun. Horseshoe pits are there also.

Los Padres Golf
The dates are May 30th to June 1st at Forest Meadows.  non-golfers are welcome to go for the good times and companionship.  For more info and to RSVP, contact Lou.

Pinecrest
We have plenty of spots and most of us will probably go from July 25th on.  The sites are available starting different days, depending on what we could get.

Saturday Coffee Clatches Continue
We've moved our "regular" place to Le Boulanger at San Felipe and Yerba Buena.  There is a Starbuck across from it if you need something "special" to go with your bagel or pastry. Our field trip this month is to Robin's garden on May 17 at 9 am. Bring you own coffee or tea cup and we can enjoy the nice weather in her beautiful garden.

SOME THOUGHTS ON MOTHERHOOD

Somebody said it takes about six weeks to get back to normal after you've had a baby... that somebody doesn't know that once you're a mother, "normal" is history.

Somebody said you learn how to be a mother by instinct... that somebody never took a three-year-old shopping.

Somebody said being a mother is boring... that somebody never rode in a car driven by a teenager with a driver's permit.

Somebody said if you're a "good" mother, your child will "turn out good"... that somebody thinks a child comes with directions and a guarantee.

Somebody said "good" mothers never raise their voices... that somebody never came out the back door just in time to see her child hit a golf ball through the neighbor's kitchen window.

Somebody said you don't need an education to be a mother... that somebody never helped a fourth grader with his math.

Somebody said you can't love the fifth child as much as you love the first... that somebody doesn't have five children.

Somebody said a mother can find all the answers to her child-rearing questions in the books... that somebody never had a child stuff beans up his nose or in his ears.

Somebody said the hardest part of being a mother is labor and delivery... that somebody never watched her "baby" get on the bus for the first day of kindergarten... or on a plane headed for military "boot camp."

Somebody said a mother can do her job with her eyes closed and one hand tied behind her back... that somebody never organized seven giggling Brownies to sell cookies.

Somebody said a mother can stop worrying after her child gets married... that somebody doesn't know that marriage adds a new son or daughter-in-law to a mother's heartstrings.

Somebody said a mother's job is done when her last child leaves home... that somebody never had grandchildren.

Somebody said your mother knows you love her, so you don't need to tell her... that somebody isn't a mother.

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY... to every Mother on every day of the year!
